A few weeks ago a rare occasion happened in Oaxaca: my husband and I had the SAME afternoon free with absolutely NO obligations!! WOOHOO!! That happens about once in a million years. All Mexican food is essentially the same four ingredients rearranged and called something different. Quesadilla? Tortilla, cheese, salsa. Tacos? Tortilla, meat, salsa. Tostada? When I mention to people that I am a food blogger they seem so amazed. (And rightfully so, it is pretty awesome!) What is so astonishing to these people is just the idea that I cook at home everyday with fresh ingredients and real food. I’m used to it, so maybe it is a grand accomplishment, but to me it doesn’t seem that difficult to eat a fresh homemade meal every day. (more…)
